I'm starting bmx, what would be a good lightweight bike to start with? I suggest you check out www.Danscomp.com,they have all the bmx bikes you could imagine. They tell you the wieght and everything. Prices are good. All there bikes are under 32pds and prices start at around $240.. But the best starting bmx freestyle bike is the DK 6pack priced at $309.99 it has some pretty good stuff to start with. http://www.danscomp.com/101073.php?cat=b... And dont worry about your height Im 6'3 and ride a 20" tire bicycle and it has a 21" top tube. By the way make sure you know your top tube size before purchasing a bike anywhere if your 4"8-5"4 get a bike with atleast a 20" top tube. If your 5"4-5"10 get a bike with atleast a 20.5" top tube. If you any taller then that look for bikes with a 20.5 or higher top tube. That will be to get the best comfort for your bike. Good luck. Source(s): I ride, work on bikes, shop there constantly. Harro, and giant It depends on what type of BMX you are going to be doing. Are you going to be racing? Then get a Felt BMX bike. Are you going to be riding street/vert/dirt/flatland? Then look at overall durability, anf fit and finish before you think about weight. Take a look at S and M bikes, as well as DK and Fit and We the People. A bike that weighs 50lbs but is bullet proof is much better than a bike that weighs 25lbs and is not. Also if you are tall or lanky lke me, look at 24" wheel or 26" wheel bikes, and don't skimp on the durability of the wheel!!!!!!!!!!!! i would say what im riding a haro backtrail X1,X2,X3 be aware X,3 has no gyro so i would def go with X1 its very light easy to handle and great for beginner tricks and just ridding currently ridding |
