My bike weighs 27.4lb for freestyle bmx should i decrease the weight? A freestyle bike and a BMX bike are different animals. Freestyle bikes are meant to be heavily built, so, NO, do not try to make it lighter. Source(s): 26 years in the bicycle industry Yeah, unless your a wuss and don't want to catch some air. Every bike is (and should be) designed with certain design parameters in mind. This is done by professionals (and should be). You should not alter anything from it to get promised results. You better if you want to compete at all! it will have to depend on what you do and what you get for this weight. if you only do spins and otherstuff other than catching big air then you will be fine but if you like air i would suggest a thinner and lighter frame that is strong enough for the kind of stuff u do. if you like to spin ur bike then you can get more spins out of it if it was heavier but u will need to be strong too. heck yes. 27lbs for a bmx bike is heavy. get a cro moly frame and maybe a lighter set of wheels and a carbon riser bar (bmx style or course, around $100) |
