My son mentioned that he would like a light weight bmx bike. Go to www.Danscomp.com,they carry ALL the top brand bmx bikes. And pretty good prices for what they have. Check it out. Oh and the average wieght of a stock bmx bike is 32pds. but they have some with less. And make sure you get the right top tube length if your sons height is 4"8 to 5"4 look for a 19.5 top tube. If your sons height is 5'4 to 5'10 get one with a 20 to 20.5 top tube.If he is taller then that look for a bike with 20.5 or higher. Knowing the top tube size is the key to comfort. As far as brand names, it almost doesn't matter. BMX frames are tough and most do just fine. Bikes are made of the components, and even a lot of that is just about fashion and preference. You definitely want good, strong wheels. Try to slip in some questions to your son about who his favorite pro riders are, or what companies he likes.
