Can i have a 3 piece crank on a bike that comes with a regular crank? |
My bmx bike is a redline and it comes standard with regular cranks. Can i take them off and put a set of 3 piece cranks on? Yes this is possible, and is very easy to do. I would reccomend buying a set of cranks from www.danscomp.com. You will probably get the best price on cranks and no matter which one you will buy, it will last you for a long time. If you need someone to install them you can take your bike and the ordered cranks to your local shop, they will do it for a pretty low price. okay... if by regular crank you mean 1 piece crank, the answer is yes... but only kind of. To replace a 1 piece crank, you can, but you need a bottom bracket adaptor as they are different sizes. to replace a crank with open bearning bottom brackets to cartridge BB is a straight replacement To replace a 2 pc crank with external BB you'd be crazy... you will need to check with a bike shop to find out, unless you just happen to have one that could fit, buying on and modifying your bike to accept the crankset and the derailler system with the shifters and all the components could end up costing more than buying a new bike already equiped.... |
