Are bmx bikes supposed to be very heavy? |
Are bmx bikes supposed to be very heavy? my 20. race bike is almost twenty pounds, not for serious jumping.my cruiser goes about twenty-one pounds and can withstand smooth sessions of air.flatland bikes are more about balance and gearing than weight.serious "unsmooth jumpers" bikes go up into low thirties.skate park bikes have a mid-upper twenties in the weight dept.,needs precision and lightness. Source(s): but if your are "smooth" and don't bail a lot, lighter is better, low twenties. Nope the lighter the better. yes, they need the steel structure to be able to do jumps as opposed to light thin structures of mountain bikes Yes they are steel constructed to endure the tricks. depends. if its a downhill or dirt jumping bmx it needs to be strong but it doesn't need to be that light, if its a flatland bmx then it needs to be extremly light but doesn't need to be that strong No. BMX bikes should be as light as you can find them. They should be built for speed in the mud and dirt during relatively short races. On the other hand, flatland or jumping bikes will be quite heavy to provide greater strength and also higher inertia when flying through the air. |
