Is it just an image thing or are the parts actually more functional?
Overall when it comes to bikes of any kind you get what you pay for when you buy a Diamondback or a Redline you get stronger metals and better components like metal pedals,better gears,nicer seat,better brakes and other accessories that make the bike last longer and preform better.
Most of the time Redline and Diamondback are more durable and tough and last longer. As for being more functional, it depends on the model you buy.
