I have a BMX Huffy and i have no idea what's wrong with the brake, the brakes don't squeeze and no contraction |

I squeeze the brake from the handle and it doesn't squeeze, i checked to see if one of the wires snapped off, but i can't tell which one snapped off, my basic problem overall on the bike is the brakes don't squeeze and i don't get what got disconnected from what I assume this is a hand brake. Sounds like cable or housing has rusted. Replace your cable and spray WD-40 into new cable/housing. This will help prevent this problem from happening again. Fairly cheap buy at Walmart, but make sure lenght is correct. Where the brake cable comes out, on the actual brake, above the tire there should be a connector, loosen this, then pull cable tight until you feel tension on the brake lever, tighten connector back. Fixed tons of bikes.... the brake cable is too tight u need to loosen it up a little or you could go to a loccal bike shop and they could do it for pretty cheap. check if the bolt on the inside brake handle, that might be to far in, or just get a new bike, huffys suck BMX rider, amature machinic |
