I want a new brake set for my bike. Is that possible? |
I have a really old diamondback bmx bike. I wanna kinda upgrade by putting a new brake set that the brake goes in the middle of the back wheel, not the top. Is that possible I'm assuming you mean disc brakes, and yes this is totally doable. just buy a new disc brake set and either install it yourself or take it to a bike shop and they will probably do it for you for cheap. Well... your question has a lot of variances, I'm thinking your talking disc brakes, if so it is possible, you would need a new wheel, the rotor and the caliper mount that will have to be welded on, all of this is available at jenson usa, another possibilty is coaster brakes, (the brakes taht you pedal back to slow down) this only requires a new hub, but most people replace the whole wheel, the other option is that you want to move the brake unit to the bottom/middle section of the frame, then you will have to drill and tap to hold the brake sstanchions uhm its only possible if you have 990 mounts in the middle part but im not sure if thats all worth it but go ahead and try! |
