I just got a BMX bike from ebay, is it normal for the seat post to be easily taken out of the hole?

I am able to adjust the height, but how come I can just pull out the seat/seatpost? Man I feel like a rookie. What else should a beginner know about BMX.

Sounds to me like the seat post is not correct for the bike.

Hopefully you haven't tightened the binder bolt so far as to smash the seat tube (hole). If this happens, say bye bye to the frame- especially if it is aluminum.

Take the bike to a shop and get the correct size seat post.

If you have quick release (a handle thingy to open) tighten the other side with an alan key. if it not still tighten it but not too much so you can undo it when you have to. BMX is hard and alot of advice can be given but i dont have all day so i will give just one piece of advice. DON'T go too big, too fast, to soon. basically i mean don't try stuff you're not ready for. If you land it WHOOOO!. I you don't you'll have a big ugly scar for the rest of your life. I know.
