How do you loosen the brakes on a trek bmx bike?

I have never changed brakes on a bike before, so I am new to this kind of thing.

If you have a barrel adjuster on the brake turn it in to loosen the brake. If not Loosen the not holding the cable in place and allow a little slack in it and tighten it down.
