A new BMX bike????

I have had my haro for 5 years an my friend has had his bike for 7 and it is THRASHED he painted it witch mad it more ugly and chiped he has like a billion scraches and some dents and his cranks are bent so should he make it last or get a new bike??????

Let's see. Buy new or fix old? This is a question you will be asking yourself for the rest of your life about bikes cars and everything else. Some guys even think about their wives this way. Should I get a new one or keep the old one? I've been married a long time so I have made my decision.

Anyway there are a couple of things to think about. If you really like your current bike and it rides and handles good for you that may be a factor. Sometimes when I switch bikes it takes a long time before I really feel comfortable on the new one. It often makes me regret I switched bikes at all.

As far as paint - The best way to go is electrostatic powder coating. This will cost you about $50-$100 depending on the company of if you or your family have a friend with the equipment.

Parts are another area that you can really rack up some dollars on a rebuild. Remember that your bike shop makes a very low margin on bikes and a much larger one on parts. Think about this imaginary situation: Let's say I showed you a bike you really liked that cost $300. No let's say you wanted to buy that bike from me in parts and assemble it yourself. The $300 bike probably costs $500 in parts. So if you have a lot of major things on your bike that are toast like cranks rims etc you could spend the price of a new bike just to get the parts you need.

So the bottom line is the decision is really up to you. If the old bike needs a lot of stuff you could probably sell it and use the money towards a new one. If you really like it and it just needs a few things to refresh it then maybe a rebuild makes more sense.

new. i dont know wat bike it is but if its 7 years old it wont be great
