Where to go in 4 days from Phuket in February?

I'm not sure where to go. We're going on an Intrepid tour from Bangkok to Phuket. I want to go exploring before we leave. I have 4 days before we need to be back in Bangkok to catch a plane back home. Not sure if we should stay in thailand or jetset to another country...any suggestions for must sees in a short amount of time? I'm looking for fun, clean, not scary, and somewhere safe for female travelers. We don't hike, bike, climb, or kayak. Most interested in seeing the beaches. Also somewhere that doesn't cost too much to fly to or not too far away from the airports. Also if you have any suggestions for cool, hip hotels that are not too expensive. This is my first time traveling on vacation in Asia. I've only been to hong kong and china for work so this is a different experience for me. Any suggestions would be appreciated....

Phuket is really great for beaches, and they do have many beaches of 'different character' for you to explore.

I spent my stay there just to 'explore' and 'experience' the different beaches that Phuket has to offer.

I went there twice, once last year in Nov and the 2nd time was the middle of this year.

The 1st time I was there, I stayed in Karon beach. This beach is very clean and quiet, away from the touristy places. I stayed in Movenpick Hotel, the hotel compound is fantastic with lush landscaping, very resort feel! The staffs and morning breakfast are even better! They are so friendly and courteous, they'll pause whatever they're doing to greet you with a genuine and warm smile. Its a great place to stay.

In Phuket, I would say that transportation is rather expensive. One tuk tuk ride a short distance to the next beach (just 2 -3 km) will cost you around 200 baht (its impossible to walk as there is no footpath and its over a hill)! Hence the 2nd time we went there, we decided to rent our own car instead. It was great fun and we almost finished exploring the western coast in 4 days! Its one of the best decided we've have on this trip!

We stayed in Patong beach on our 2nd visit at the Holiday Inn Resort. I liked this resort too, its in the middle of the shopping, beach activities, restaurants etc etc etc... These are some of the places we visited also: Wat Chalong, Bangtao, Surin, Kamala, Patong, Karon, Kata beaches, Chinatown, Kata Viewpoint, Cape Promthep, Ko Sirae

Just in case you might wonder whether its safe to go Phuket driving around, me and my friend are both female.

Enjoy your holidays!

Stay in Thailand and go to (Patheir) which has a wonderful beach area views and a good cheap hotel which is very popular, good luck and have a good time on your vacation.

Hi, not too sure how your Phuket trip is like. What are the places that you will be traveling to while on your Intrepid tour? This is because there are other places nearby that you can link to near Phuket, if those placves are not covered during your tour. Places can be reached by boat, bus or plane. So will need to have an idea of your trip plan.

There are other beach resorts further north and south of Phuket, in Prachuab khiri Khan and Suratthani. Even Chumpon or Satun. So if you can, drop me a note and I can get back to you on what other plan you can do for your 4 days.

Happy holidays, in the meantime.

I've spent a week in Patong beach in Phuket, it is full of restaurants, bars and pubs...
If you like exploring new beaches you can try Monkey beach, Coral Island or Phi Phi Island, you will find a ot of travel agencies offering packages for a day-tour (you will need to negociate with them)...

Good Luck !

Phuket is an awesome place to just chill out or you have Koh Samui or Pi Pi Island as great places to spend some time

You can choose between basic one star accommodation from US$13 per night [ $6.50 each for twin share ] to 5 star hotels from US$56 and upwards.

Personally, I'd pay a bit extra and enjoy yourself for peanuts !!

Ahhh... Phuket! This is my favourite holiday destination so far. I have been there a total of four times in the past 12 months. Crazy, I know... but once you have seen the beaches, got to know the people, tasted the food...

Well I can write a hell load here on why Phuket is the perfect choice, but I will let my blog posts to do the talking:

You can write to me personally if you want more information. I don't proclaim I know everything there is about Phuket (like island hopping - I don't like that), but will be most happy to help out my fellow travellers.

Have a good (and safe) trip!
