Lance Armstrong vs Best female cyclist, Tour de France Lance ride a one speed bike from Walmart...Who win?

depends on the race terrain.

For very short sprints. I think that it will be a close one for both of them.

For mountain passes, Lance will surely lose.

For hypothetically very long flat stages (500km) wherein which endurance is most important. I bet my house on lance assuming that the bike doesnt break down.

If the female cyclist rides naked ( or with those SPD shoes ONLY)---Hell, I'd watch it-----Lance can ride A SINGLE SPEED but the better deal? Lance ride a unicycle ( yup---no chains,no derrailleurs,no handlebars!) ----I'd PAY just to see THAT!

I would bet on the female. Although Lance is an awesome rider, the disadvantage of the single speed would outweigh his ability. A single speed bike would have too low a gear ratio for him to race competitively; his cadence would have to be about 250rpm!

Almost any avid rider could beat him if he was limited in such a way. He probably couldn't top 16 mph max on that bike so if you can ride the race distance at 16 mph you'd win.

EDIT: OK what fool thinks a Wal Mart single speed is capable of letting any top cyclist ride faster than it can mechanically be ridden? Go back to playing your PS2 or XBox. That way you don't expose your ignorance. Crazy is the only other one that has a clue here. But it wouldn't even be a close race.

EDIT: What a joke - if ya read the question - a Wal Mart one speed? You're debating terrain etc.? A fat 40 lb, low geared, single speed bike can't be ridden fast by anyone. Some of those female riders are very good I wouldn't under estimate them. I would bet on the Great female on a Great bike.
The cheap bike may breakdown under that hard ride anyway.

the best female cyclist in the world now (atleast in cyclocross) is katie compton. she is about 25 and lance is like 35 i believe so i think it would be close but i think lance might still win since hes a roadie

It wouldn't be close. The bike, especially the drive train and the brakes, would make a huge difference. And the Walmart bike would weigh almost twice as much as the better bike. The female would win.

By the way, what makes you think a WalMart bike could even complete the Tour de France? it would probably spend half the race time in the shop...

Why not make the equipment equal? Are you trying to compare a crappy Wal-Mart boat anchor to a real bike, or are you pitting male against female?

Sorry, but males have a distinct genetic advantage when it comes to such tremendous strain. Make no mistake, it's a balancing act jut to FINISH the TdF, let alone win it! A female body would start to break down within the first two weeks of the race, and despite the naturally higher body fat advantage a female could not produce that much energy for that amount of time.

If you're comparing bikes, Lance would rip the cranks off the Wal-Mart special within the first two miles. The "bike" couldn't handle Lance!

the female would win. he would have to walk the bike on the big hills like alp de souze. he would loose 3-4 hours on a section like that. he could not recover that kind of difference or even get injured
