Cycling: What is a GC rider?

I am new to biking, I was wondering what a GC rider. Is that the name of a team or a certain rider on a team? They say it on the Tour De France and I have no idea what they are talking about.

General Classification. This means that theri goal is to try to win the whole tour. Some riders are sprint or climbing specialists and are trying for those titles or some just go for broke and try to win a single stage (such as the Colombian yesterday). GC riders tend to be a bit more well rounded and are not concerned with individual stage wins. If you are new to the tour it may seem a bit strange that you can win the whole thing without having won a single stage.
Ghetto Clown.
That means general classification..... the person trying to win the entire tour, the Yellow Jersey.
GC Stands for General Classification. So a GC rider is a rider that could win the tour. Examples in this years tour are, Valverde, Moreau, Levi Leiphimer, Vino, Kloden, Cadel Evans. These riders are great climbers but also have the ability to Time Trial.

A climber is a person who can climb well but their time trialing abilities keep them from wining the tour. Ex Rassmussen.

A Domestique is a rider who goes back to get the water bottles and food. They do pace setting.
It stands for "General Classification". This is a rider who is not a specialist in anything but an overall good rider who is in contention to win the overall Tour. Some riders in the race specialize in mountains or sprints or time trials, but the GC riders are the ones that are good at all aspects.
General Classification. They will talk about the GC guys and they mean the top riders who are likely to win. But everyone is put in the GC. It's the order of all the riders. I am glad you watch le tour, cycling is great!
