What do I need for joining a bicycle tour?

I am joining a biking group soon and I need to know what basic equipment needed for 25-40mile rides. Where are websites that offer quality affordable equipment?

1) Congrats on joining a group - it'll be fun.
2) For rides that length, you don't need too much. I'd suggest (2) spare tire tubes, gear for the fixing tire puncture(s), portable air pump, two water bottles, saddle bag for your tire stuff, a multi-tool.
3) Just make sure taking a good look at the bike, get it clean the night before, check your frame for any abnormalities, and see if all your screws on your bike are snug.
4) Take a look at: www.nashbar.com, www.paragonsports.com, www.pricepoint.com, and www.performancebike.com. OR visit your local shop.

Lastly, try to get a Saddle Balm for preventing saddle sores and chaffing. This will make your rides much more enjoyable.

Cheers and good riding!
A comfy pair of short with a shamy and bike shirt with pockets to carry things. Definitely get synthetics. Cotton is icky when its wet.

Also get a water bottle. You'll need it on that long a ride.

Tire levers, a patch kit and and a pump would be good too but you could probably borrow these at first if you are riding with other people.

Check these out.
