Recommendations for Galena, IL romantic getaway? |
My husband and I want to go to Galena, IL this July for a 3-night romantic getaway. Our schedule is flexible- we can go during the week or over a weekend. We are looking for hotel/B&B recommendations. Our main request is that our room has a private hot tub/jacuzzi (a clean room is important too). I don't want to pay over $150 per night, but we'll pay more if the rate includes a package deal, such as golf or spa packages. The location of the hotel/B&B does not matter, (In town or out) as we'll have our car, but other things we want to do in Galena that weekend include golf, couples massage, horse and carriage ride, ghost tour, kayaking in the Mississippi River, bicycling tour, and shopping at the boutiques. Does anyone have any recommendations for a place to stay that would be ideal for our weekend? Eagle Ridge Resort... does not get any better than that. It has just about everything you mentioned. Been there several times. Stayed in a private rented cabin, but the resort is great itself. Inquire about both. The golf is pricey but awesome. The town of Galena is about the best for shopping, wine-tasting, food, etc. If you get a chance go to Fried Green Tomatoes to eat. Excellent restaurant. Have a great trip. There are also 18 Galena B&Bs on the following site: http://www.allstays.com/bandb/il-galena-... It will be very hard to find a jacuzzi suite under $200 during the season. Maybe on a weekday you will have a chance. Frequent Galena visitor. I would try the Sybrais or the hotel in Joliet they have great shows. |
