does any one happen to know how much the average tour de france bicycle weighes ? any help would be appreiciated thank you.
The UCI minimum weight on a bike is 15 pounds. They don't care if it is heavier, but it can't be lighter than this. The reason behind this is it helps level out the playing field between the low and big budget teams to some extent in terms of equipement. One example that comes to mind is Cannondale's six13. The team had to add heavier seatposts and water bottle cages to the bike (smaller than a 56cm I think) to get the weight up to meet UCI standards. Some of Armstrong's rides had to be tweaked to get them up to the minimum weight also.
