What are the best lower-end recumbent bicycles for touring? |
What are the best lower-end recumbent bicycles for touring? ActionBent has great lower-priced recumbent bikes and trikes at really low prices! I've got one of their trikes and for WAY less than a lot of the competitors, they deliver a great product! They are an importer from China and keep their overhead way down by selling online only and I think it's just a couple of guys running the show. You can find their stuff on eBay as well by just searching for ActionBent in the bike section and save a couple bucks. The one downside is that they ship to you and you will need to assemble them or take them to a bike shop to get them taken care of. If you live in the Seattle area, you may be able to pick it up from them if you arrange it (I did) and save the $50 or whatever it costs to ship. From what I've seen online, a lot of people swear by their ActionBents, especially the trikes, and they're supposed to be great for "tinkerers"/customizers. I've heard ok things about the Bike-E bikes and they are supposed to be in the affordable range, but I haven't ridden any of them. Source(s): http://www.actionbent.com the sun ez series are pretty popular. the ez 1 sc looks ok. And action bent. Because of the different posture, 'bents use your back and leg muscles differently from an upright frame, and you need to condition those muscles. Be sure to log lots of miles on a 'bent before touring, or those hills will be very painful. http://www.sunbicycles.com/sun/recumbent... |
