A tour to the morgue, juvenile hall etc. dont know how to get my 11yr. old back on track!!!? |
hes 11 and starting to do some serious stuff, the other day he slashed his friends bicycle tire. his homelife is screwed up with no father figure around. he has a roof over his head, goes to school everyday, a couple more detentions from being kicked out but at least hes going. i dont think its that serious for social services to get involved, but the way hes acting and what hes doing they will soon. i need to know if theres a way to get him back on the straight and narrow, either a field trip of some sorts to the morgue or police station or something . please help if u can . im not his mom im only the guardian/babysitter. but with her bad attitude the way it is i need to act on this asap!! SERIOUS REPLIES ONLY!!! thanks Try talking to him to see what's going on - no lectures or speeches - try to create an open dialogue. Have you tried Big Brothers or some other mentoring program? Different churches and community services offer these programs where a young man can be exposed to positive male models. Also find out what he likes to do "constructively" and help him pursue a hobby. Give him responsibility and help build his esteem. Field trips aren't always effective because they increase the mind set of "it can't happen to me." Source(s): My daughter was the same way down the road of self destruction. Hes sad, you should try to talk to him, figure out whats wrong, then if possible try to fix the problem. If you cant do anything but listen and be a helpful hand, just do that, don't push it or he will hate you the same way he hates his parents.
