I want to know what is descent speed to be safe with my new Groozer cargo trailer .? |
I am experienced cyclist , have 3 bicycles , touring Trek 520 , Raleigh 500 C and modified MTB (hard tale) and I did ride bicycle whith trailer behind only once about 4 month ago in Cascade Highway . I do not overload trailer ,which have load capacity 35 kilograms . I prefer paniers but sometimes I do not have option if I have to carry all my photo equipment . When I first bought a trailer for my son i wanted to know the same thing. The only way to know is to experiment. I loaded the trailer with water bags and bottles of about the same weight. Then went out and tried to get the thing to tip. I went round corners as fast as I was game, over gutters and even around a bmx track. The best I managed was to get one wheel off the ground. I came to the conclusion that I would have to do something really stupid to get the thing to go over. It was quite reassuring to load my son in and now he wouldn't go for a spill. Each trailer and bike combination is a little different so the only way to know for sure is to try it out. If you value your photo gear half as much as I value my son you will do the same. |
