I need advice? |
Recently I was travelling in my car, driving back from Diu, U.T. back to gujarat, when my wife who is English, I am Indian, saw a white couple using bicycles to tour the Country, she was amazed and took a photo of the female rider. This lady overtook us since we had to stop at a sign and shouted at my wife, " WHY ARE YOU TAKING MY PICTURE, AM I A MONKEY, TAKE PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE INDIANS WITH YOU" Did she mean that Indians are Monkeys and that they should be photographed and that Whites are above all. Can you imagine my feeling, Coming to my country and abusing me (Indians) in that manner, who invited her to come to India. Dont people like her know that India is a free Country now, not a part of the Raj anymore. Over the Centuries, history will testify, that we Indians regard visitors highly, but have been repaid in such manner. My quaestion is what should I have done under such circumstances, I am not a violent or an abusive man. I think you did the mature and responsible thing to do and just let it go. People can be jerks. Doesn't matter what race, what religion or where they come from people can be real jerks. But it took alot to just let it go. you should have smiled and told her to have a nice day. and be thankful she is not in your circle of friends. have a nice day. You should have apologized for taking her picture without her permission. The words the woman spoke was just in anger. turned the cheek and said Lord forgive you I think she thought you took her picture because you thought she was an odd sight so she used you as an example saying that since you're an uncommon sight does that give her the right to take your picture...or something. ignorance isn't bliss, it's damning. I feel sorry for her. What a shame to go through life so poor you jump to such idiotic assumptions. I'm sorry you had to experience that. Drive away without acknowledging her and her highly rude behavior. |
