Would you use Performance Enahancing Drugs if they could help you win the Tour De France? |
Let's face it, just about everyone in the professional bicycling world uses or has used EPO, and/or some other performance enhancing drug. If you were a cyclist all your life, and knew everyone else was doping, and also knew that doping was your only way to win, would you do it? Hell, if I could safely administer some performance enhancing drug to beat some of my friends up the local climbs, I'd probably do it, much less use PEDs to win a Grand Tour. That's a GOOOOD question. I'm sure we've all read studies that when asked, Olympic athletes said that if they were given the choice of taking a pill that would guarantee a gold medal but they would die it like five years, overwhelmingly they opted to take the pill. Another consideration; Michele Ferrari, the guy named Dr. Evil for his condoning PEDs claimed that, when used properly, EPO is no more dangerous that orange juice. Still others claim that all bets should be off and all PEDs legalized. I disagree with the last point because it not only takes away the option to be a high level pro and use because the average guys will be using, but how many of the athletes would follow the lead of those Olympians I mentioned. When a little is good, more is always better then we have deaths. Maybe the answer is to have two different leagues, like bodybuilding. You could have the natural guys and the fast ones. All that said, as a competitor, I think I would be very tempted and probably buckle - not out of laziness, but to be that much better and show better results of the hard work and, hopefully WIN. I think there's a huge difference between Lance using (allegedly) and Jan (allegedly). Armstrong鈥檚 work ethic is unquestioned while; if Ullrich used it would have been a shortcut as he is known for not working as hard as he could. Whether Armstrong did or not, my thought on it is so friggin' what. All of the selfless good he has been able to do because of his success far outweighs the bad. If you could travel back in time and murder Hitler's mother and save millions of lives, would you? Good question, though. I could go on and on. honesty, character....NO Nope. no!!! owe hell yeah No I wouldn't not. I would hope that honesty would prevail Doping is illegal so my answer to your question is NO |
