What is the average speed to bike per hour? |
I'm in a 75 mile bike tour and I'm relatively new to cycling. I'm trying to determine approximately how long it will take me to finish. I'm just wondering what the average speed per hour for a newcomer like myself would be. Any help would be appreciated. You can ride with a slow speed of 15 MPH (around kids in parks and such) and you can also go 30MPH on a downhill paved road. I would guess your average would be 20MPH (since 15 is too slow and 30 way too fast for an average). But that greatly depends on what shape you are in, how often you stop, how much water you drink, what you eat etc. Source(s): http://www.transalt.org/blueprint/chapte... between 20 - 30 mph depending on the grade of the pavement! It'll take you about 2 - 3 1/2 hours you have to pace yourself and i know you have been practicing because if you havent your not going to make the entire ride.try to keep up with the first 50 riders and let them set the pace.ive seen riders 65 mph. there is a bike race in my area 9/16/06 110 miles and its gruesome and rough on your body unless you have trained for at least 8 months.last mile is almost straight up 15-20 When I was younger, I would ride for about 1 hr 15 minutes and travelled 20 miles. I would cycle about 3 times a week. There were 2 really steep hills to climb on my route. I think you would expect to average around 16 miles per hour over hilling terrain, probably around 28 miles per hour over flat land. 30-40 miles per hour is way to fast for a beginner. |
