PA Bike routes- are they labled? |
I want to do this bike tour through part of PA. I've found the PA bike maps available at ftp://ftp.dot.state.pa.us/publ... but I want to know if those routes are actually labeled on the routes themselves, or if I need to make detailed turnsheets? BicyclePA routes were designed by experienced bicyclists to provide bicycling members of the traveling public who wish to traverse the state with a guide to some of the Commonwealth鈥檚 highways and rail-trails. Few of these routes contain bike lanes or other facilities designed specifically for bicyclists traveling within the four corners of the Commonwealth. Every bicyclist is responsible for his or her personal safety and welfare and for remaining alert and mindful of conditions on the roads or trails. BicyclePA users are expected to be licensed drivers or persons at least sixteen years of age who have several years of road bicycling experience. Source(s): http://www.bikepa.com/routes/ I've never seen bike routes labled here. But honestly, I've never been looking for them either. I'd make detailed turnsheets just to be on the safe side. PA resident for 30 years. Which BicyclePA route? I've ridden the south route from the Delaware river west to Lancaster (and back) a couple of times. Typically there are 3 signs per turn, one approximately 100 yards short of the intersection, one at the turn and one on the road that you've turned onto. A couple of signs are missing. One in Doylestown, one east of Valley Forge. They may have been replaced in the past month. Its reassurring to have a printed cue sheet with you as some signs are far apart. I'm planning on riding the South route the week of Aug 13th. http://www.dot.state.pa.us/bike/web/tour... |
