Is the NYCity Century Bike Tour on Sept 9 2007 a good ride? |
Is the NYCity Century Bike Tour on Sept 9 2007 a good ride? I have ridden most of the routes that bike tour will take (not in one single trip though!). Most of the places the century ride will go through are pretty good. Surface streets, paved trails, etc... The only part I don't like is the route through southern Queens and eastern Brooklyn-- It looks like it will go along the Jamaica Bay bike path, and that path SUCKS. It runs alongside the Belt Parkway, which is a very busy highway with cars zipping along at 65mph+. The path passes by garbage landfills (literally next to the path) and normally nobody ever rides there. The bonehead who wasted the city's tax dollars building a bike path there ought to be shot, whoever he is. A better way would have been to bypass that area by going through the Rockaways.. That's a nice ride. The Belt Parkway/Garbage Landfill section is only about 5 miles though (out of the 100 mile ride). Other than that it's a good ride. Source(s): I'm a life-long Noo Yawker. |
