Is the honda goldwing really the best touring bike on the planet (for the money)??.?? Very well engineered, very quiet, very stable riding --uh, yes, it is the best touring bike on the planet... they are even showing up in force at Sturgis every August nowadays. People seem to really love them, still there is something about a Harley! Yes it is, they have got to be one of the best touring bikes ever built. As for somebody mentioning Harley, Harley will never produce a bike that even compares to a Honda. It all depends on what you are looking for in a touring bike. I have several I prefer over the Gold Wing, such as the BMW and the Honda ST1300. Others prefer the Electra Glide or other brands. The Gold Wing is a great bike, with lots of fantastic features, but the best is a personal choice. Right now, my Kawasaki is the best because it is what I have. It has to be the smoothest running. The weight of the bike adds to its comfort as well. The BMW k series 4 cylinder will run right along with that. Harleys, or almost any two lunger for that matter, will produce too much vibration to actually be considered a long distance touring bike. The BMW two cylinder bikes are OK, since the pistons move in opposite direction to each other, cancelling a lot of the vibes. |
