Things to do in Maui, please help? |
My family-a nine year old girl, 12 year old boy, and 14 year old girl, and mom and dad-are going to maui for the first time. we have already booked a bike tour, snorkling trip, and a zipline tour. We dont want to do tours and stuff were you have to drive around and go to musems. is there anything that we must do while we are there. like stuff you cant do at home? (we live in florida by the beach ). like stuff that if we dont do we will be greatly disapponted. thanks in advanced. Go to the Old Lahaina Luau. Top shelf drinks, excellent food, great memories. Ask Robert the bartender for a Hawaiian Iced Tea. Drive out to Hana. Do it very early in the morning and you'll have most of the place to yourselves as others won't arrive until after 12pm. Stop at the swimming holes along the way. Try the Maui aquarium, one of the best for tropical fish. Go wind surfing out in Paia. Go snorkeling to the molokini crater. Make sure you do all your snorkeling early in the morning, as that's when you will see the most fish. The trade winds pick up in the afternoons, so it makes snorkeling difficult, the seas rough, and there are fewer fish. Go to Pollie's Mexican food in Makawao. After wards walk around the charming small town. Enjoy the art scene in Paia. Make sure that your bike tour is biking down a volcano (Haleakala). Go on a sunset dinner or cocktails cruise. Take in a show. I recommend Ula Lena in Lahaina. It's the history of the islands, Cirque de Soleil style. Go to Moose McGillacuddy's in Lahaina for their $9.99 prime rib special and their $2 drinks. Sit on their street side balcony and watch the tourists go by. Go to the Old Banyan tree in Lahaina. It's as big as 1 city block. Go on the sugar train and view the only working sugar plantation left in Hawaii. I hope these help. Take the tour that goes to Hana---Not much to do in Hana, but the fun is on the road to Hana----there are a million curves and turns---also go through forest and see beautiful waterfalls. Have fun Maui is beautiful and Lahaina is very historic..Aloha On your way back from Iao Valley in Wailuku, go to the little market ( I think its Nakamea Mkt) in Happy Valley on right hand side and get their marinated ribs bring back and cook on the beach. The best since Azeka's closed! |
