Bmw bike owners advice please? |
thinking of buying a secondhand bmw need help to choose a model...so what do you all suggest.....going to use it to tour with my 12 yr old son dont know the difference the r1100rt and r1100rs and would they suit better than the k series..any and all advice gladly accepted i am in the uk by the way To be honest there isn't a lot of difference between the two - the RS has the added benefit of ABS braking system - but other than that and a difference in price of about 拢300 there is nothing to seperate the two - either of them would be ideal! Both good bikes and super reliable! Damn Germans :) you would be better off with a honda goldwing,,i would not ride anything else,, You say touring with a passenger? BMW K1200LT or Honda Goldwing. me, I`m an ancient petrol head. Used to have an R60/5 short wheelbase (1972) Never let me down, whatever the weather. Went all over Uk on it, 2 up. Goldwings !! if you want something that heavy get a car !!!! been there , done that When you say secondhand it would help if you gave the year of the bike. The R1100 RT would be more suited for longer touring. The K series bikes are more of a cafe style racer type of bike. The R series has more of a natural upright position also, plus hard luggage bags on most bikes. In my stable of 3 motorcycles one is a 2002 R1150GS with just over 73,000 miles and still very strong. It's far superior than any other bike I've ridden or own. if your riding 2 u p then a rt is the best bet i have a 3 cylinder 750 rt best handling bike ive ever owned but i think i would go to the bigger engine next time. if yourn ot riding 2 up then rs is cool but now i see he is 12 get the 1100RT ot the 1200 good bike cant go wrong |
