My hubby is thinking of getting a HONDA CBR 1000F motorbike, can anyone give any advice on its performance etc

also what it is like as a touring bike, well any info really would help
thanks

they are very quick bikes, not as quick as modern bikrs like the yamaha r1 or hona fireblade,as a touring bike my dad owned one when i past test he let me borrow it and i found it very comfortable to ride over a long distance,
watch the front end when you stick it in to corner hard they seem a bit unsure under hard breaking and turning in but they do hold if you got the balls to follow it through.
good luck hope you find the right bike for your needs
good as all purpose bike! good choice!
A very underated bike in its time. Makes an excellent touring bike. Obviously it won't cut it with modern sportsbikes, but it was never really aimed at the sports rider.
Performance? Ample in all respects, although linked brakes take some getting used to, Front brake lever feels a bit squishy.
not a patch on Suzukis RF900R , and by a strange coincidence i have one for sale!
It's an excellent sport bike. But it's a sport bike. In general sport bikes do not make excellent touring bikes. They're not all that comfortable on long rides and you have no luggage capacity. And the passenger seat is more of an afterthought. There's no back rest and not much to hold onto. If you and your hubby are planning to do any amount of touring I'd recommend a cruiser style bike, you can put saddlebags and a back rest on it and both enjoy the ride more easily.

However, you can also get "Sport/touring" bikes. They're a bit of a compromise. You get saddlebags, but the bike is more performance oriented, and looks more like a sport bike. The Honda ST1100 and newer ST1300 are excellent examples of this type of bike.

Good luck.
You shouldn't be concerned about its performance. After all, if your husband can handle a 1000cc sportbike then he must have spent at least a few years riding small beginner bikes and 600cc sportbikes first, as well as taking both the beginner MSF course as well as the advanced one!

Yep, you should be intimately familiar with his years-long motorcycle fetish and how silly he looks in full leathers. I'm sure that a bike with the ability to go 0 - 100mph - 0 in LESS THAN TEN SECONDS (without leaving first gear!) and leave a smoking hole in the side of a minivan at 180+mph is of no concern to you at all!

But if you have any doubts about his ability to operate a machine that takes fighter-pilot reflexes and experience, and I mean ANY doubts (not that you'd have any, right?), then use your spousal veto power right now, or take out a HUGE life insurance policy first.
