My 'friends' bike tire popped while I was riding it along a gravel bike trail, do I need to pay for it by law? |
He basically said bike down the trail, see if anyone we know is there then bike back. The tire popped just riding normally along the trail on the way back. It, but I'm tight for cash and he's rolling in money, do I legally need to pay for it? It couldn't cost more than 30$ in repairs... I mean it's just a tire right? (This isn't a question of morals, I'm seriously broke and probably can't afford to pay it back No, there weren't any witnesses. you ought to pay him, it's the right thing to do. Na,tell him to eat the bill. Don't understand that "he basically said",,,either he did or didn't.....If he told you to take his bike then he should take care of the tire,,,but if YOU said someone need to go see if anyone is there we might know and then he said you could go check then it should be your responsibility as the bike wouldn't have been used without your' suggestion. I don't know of any law that could force you to pay, Just split it and save the friendship. Just talk to your friend. Explain what happened and ask him what he wants to do. If he wants you to pay for it. Ask him if he'd be willing to do it for now and if you can pay him back over some time. you do not have any legal obligation, becuase there was not a contract before you started riding. were there any witness's i dont think you should pay for it. sh!t happens. he will spend more money taken ya to court so sue you for it that jus payin the 30$. if he is sh!itty about it tell him to f*ck off. im sure he'll understand it was an accident, i mean things happen, i seriously doubt it'll cost that much, but if he is really anal about it, ask him if maybe there is other ways to pay him off... like cutting his grass or washing his car, it just looks bad to not offer to take responsability for your actions, i seriously doubt any small claims court will actually take the case, so i dont think he'll sue you for the damages... lol. if he does then you know what kinda friend u have... simple.. just own up to what happened, apologize and everything should be cool |
