Motorcycle master link?

i bought a KMC Motorcycle Chain ISO-9001 Certified off of someone on ebay. im haveing problems contacting the guy. but the chain did not come with a master link. i was told by someone on bikebandit.com that i needed a rivited master link but they dont carry any for KMC chains. can anyone help me find out where i could buy a master link for my chain. its a 530 108link o-ring chain. could i just buy any old 530 oring master link for my bike. 1995 yzf6r doing repairs myself to save on cost.

Hey man, I just got the same chain off of ebay as well. I almost thought it did not come with a master link either, until I ripped open the box it came in. The little package that has the clip style master link and some lube was just hiding in the corner next to a brick of foam. Hope you didn't toss the package.

some chains have differant pin sizes. you can take the chain to your local shop that has aftermarket parts and they can match it up. most repair shops have a veriety of masterlinks in stock. you may try the local honda shop if you dont have a aftermarket shop, most oem shops like honda or yamaha dont like helping on these problems they just want to sell you a new chain. at least that is how they are in my area.

yes, just pick up a master link, and while your at it, a chain breaker a couple extra master links and a half link is a good idea to keep in your tool kit.

Search the web for "kmc motorcycle chain" and contact the manufacturer.

Hi,
Should be no problem getting a master link. Make sure it is the o ring type. Also when you are installing, these links can be very tight to assemble and the outer link plate must be fully seated to install the clip.(you can use small sockets and a c clamp in a pinch if necessary). Also the position of the clip is critical. Make sure the closed end faces direction of travel. If you have ANY questions or doubts have a good shop help you! This is one component you don't want to come apart! Best of luck.

Well, for high speed applications, you really don't want to run a master link.

I also wouldn't trust a chinese-made chain on my sportbike, but that's just me - I've seen what happens when a chain lets loose, and I don't have enough money in the bank to fix that!

Like others mentioned, you really should use a rivet-style link.

Unfortunately, after doing some looking online, it appears that KMC doesn't make a rivet-style master link. You might try to keep searching, but I couldn't find anything.

KMC sells their some chain under the 'Bikemaster' label. It's tough to tell if all Bikemaster is KMC, but their master link should work. You can get the link through any Tucker Rocky dealer (your local shop) they can order it, or may have it in stock. The Tucker Rocky part number is 19-4052.

why are you buying crap on ebay.
throw that chain away and go to your local
yamaha dealer and get a proper chain.
i like DID chains they are the best.

Thats the problem with o ring chains they use a special master link, with a normal chain you can get a master anywhere they have a implement sales. (like a Massey or JD dealer)
