Bike tool set?

Hi there,
I just bought a bike Wal-Mart yesterday. It is wonderful. But since it is from walmart, I expect it to have problems real soon.
Could you guys recommend a bike tool set to buy so that I can repair the bike when needed, please?
I just use it to go to back and forth between school and home, btw.
Thanks

Under my seat I have a small saddlebag and apart from a sparetube and a small cuddly toy, the only tools I carry are:
2 x Tyre Levers
3 x Allen Keys (or perhaps you call them Hex Wrenches)
Thats it!

I would suggest that you get (for home) a set of Allen keys, set of small spanners, puncture repairkit and a little oil.

Further tools such as: Chain whips; Hub extractors; etc. I would only reccommend you buy, when needed! (Although some of these jobs are quite involved and you may be better off taking it to a bike shop)

Best of Luck with your new bike!

.

Carry a spare tube and/or patch kit and a multi-tool. (If you ride with a backpack, you can just throw it in there).

Multi-tools like the Topeak Alien can be expensive, but you can find cheaper versions, possibly even at Wal-Mart or a local bike store. You do get what you pay for, beware...

It's important to have a tool that will help you make most any repair or adjustment...

Park Tools. Available at most professional bike shops. www.parktools.com
They have a few nice multi-tools and they have all the cool bike specific special tools.
You are right about Wal-Mart tools. Junk, cheap Chinese tools. They won't last and can actually damage your fasteners.

Most repairs can be done with normal home tools. A small hex wrench set, and tire levers for changing a flat, patch kit, tire pump a couple wrenches and screwdrivers take care of most repairs.

Try Filzer - much better quality then Wal-mart junk and about some prize if you do not want spend money for Parks tools ......

To know the tools that you need. You need to examine your bike first on the types of nuts, bolts, assembles it is using.

Then after evaluation, you buy the tools that you need for it. Saves some money and lessen tool cargo weight when cycling.

park tools are good quality.
