Can anybody help me the rejection of a suture material called FiberWire?

Hello,

In july 2006, I got and operation to repair a ruptured Achilles. It's been hell ever since. Aside from the many difficulties I experienced with my rehabilitation, I suffered from hypergranulation of the wound. My surgeon was never able to gain control over this situation despite him using all the techniques in the book. He tried burning (silver nitrate), cutting, scrapping, etc. Nothing worked. In the end, a dermathologist found out that I suffered from a pyogenic reaction to the sutures used to repair my Achilles.

It's been about four months since I've since any of the specialist. To be honest, I got tired of being poked at! Since then the wound has gotten better with me being more active (biking).

My concern is that the wires have been coming out from under my skin for the past two months. I've pulled 4 short strings so far (about 1 inch each). Now, I figured that my body is rejecting the material, but I'm wondering if my Achilles will be weakened.

at this point, your tendon should be about as healed as its going to get. probably what is happening is that your tendon excluded to material, then your sub-cutaneous tissue did, and now your skin is. it would be a good idea to suck it up and see one more doctor, just to make sure that's what's going on. you wouldn't want to EVER go through anything like this again, right? so just go get it checked out once and for all and then you're off to see the world by bike!
