Can i use a bicycle repair kit to fix a hole in a radiator hose on a car?

As i have a hole in a hose which is leaking water would it be ok to just use a punture repair kit to seal it just as a tempory measure? or would either it over heat or maybe the glue on the repair would affect the engine?

Because i have been told that the hose i need is really arkward to get to and you have to remove alot of things to get to it.

As the strip used to repair is made of rubber just like the hose is.

Oh and my car is a peugoet 405 1.9 GLX TD.

Any help would be appriciated thanks.

Yeah that would be fine using a punture repair kit for now, the bigger the patch the better! also when youve put the punture repair on you could put a thick U clip on over it nice & tight... it will do till you get another hose ; ) If the hole is right on the end maybe you can cut it down & rejoin it??
ps...you can buy rubber cement too to use with the patch!
Good Luck..I'm sure you can get a hose from the scrappy even if it's not for your exact car. Source(s): Using a dry paper towel, dry off the section of hose where there is a hole or cut. If the hole is within a foot (30cm) of the end of the hose, try using a piece of dowel with paper towel wrapped around it to clean the inside of the hose.
Apply some rubber cement to and around the hole. Fill in the hole, but not the inside of the hose. This could result in clogging up the hose, and increasing the water's pressure, causing more leaks and an incentive for the hose to burst at that weak spot.
Obtain a tire puncture repair kit. These are most commonly sold at bicycle repair shops, bodyshops, car-part stores, etc. Carefully read the directions of use, and apply the repair substance to the hole.
After drying, buy a small sheet of solid rubber from a craft store, hardware store or other supplier. You can also cut a small square out of an old rubber rainboot or any other rubber item you no longer use. Glue it over the leak and let dry (use a glue able to keep the rubber attached strongly).
Let dry before use.
That would be a NO - if the hole isn't too big use duct tape - good quality one not the cheapo stuff in the pound stores - will last longer than a puncture repair kit
you are having a laugh are you not? why not use bubblegum? If the hose has a hole its knackered so get a new pipe, it cant be that hard to fit!!
put a egg in the radiator repairs small holes instantly
You could try it Victoria, but in car accessories shops they sell special tape for the purpose you describe, a lot better job, I think!
I think as a very temporary measure it will be fine!! The glue wont affect the engine but it is likely that the heat from the radiator will just unstick the patch so it won't last that long!! I'm sure there are other things that would do a better job!!
