Help with reparing my bicycle? |
Actually i got a nice mountain bike for free. but it is having some very minor problems. First of all it has very small dots of rust at some places... as no one used the cycle in last 1 yr therefore the chain also have some rust... How can i remove this rust... and can i use cooking oil to oil it afterwards? There is a minor fault with the adjustment of the rear brake... It touches with the tyre and makes a noise and sometimes make the tyre heavy... any solution for that? There are no mud gaurds on the bicycle and i am not able to find them in any cycle shop in my vicinity... any idea of how to make mud gaurds by myself? can anyone recommend me a good site that can help me in repairing my bicycle my self.... try this site its pretty helpful. and as far as the rust lightly sand the area until its gone then get some touch up paint at your local automotive store. dont use cooking oil try using regular grease and grease the chain the rust will wear off.and as far as the brake try loosening it and readjusting it that should do the trick.good luck. Source(s): http://www.bikewebsite.com/ Get a can of WD4D(thats what its called) You can find it at any store---even grocery stores have it...............use it to oil your chain--good as new. Keep the WD4D handy it works for many things---cleaning surface rust, fixing a squeaky door hinge etc etc sray wd40 on the rust areas as for the brakes theres nuts on there that you can adjust |
