Registering without a title? |
I just purchased a motorcycle from a guy who purchased it as an abandoned vehicle left at a garage cuz he couldnt afford the storage and repair. the next guy bought it and started doing the repairs he ran out o money and sold to me---I am completeing the bike in a few days--how do you register this bike--there is a bill of sale from the garage to the other guy - and from him to me--i live in connecticut you need to do a title search Take the V.I.N to your local DMV and they can find the owner's name. The owner will have to be contacted and you will have to talk him/her into signing it over to You. Lotsa Luck! Ownership of motor vehicles (and a motorcycle is a motor vehicle) is transferred by means of a title. It the seller doesn't have a clear title he doesn't own the vehicle, and can't sell it. The bill of sale used with the title will tell the tag office how much you paid for tax purposes, not to transfer ownership. You *may* have a bike you can use for parts. |
