Anyone know about 1998 Yamaha Virago 1100 repair information? |
We cannot get the bike to start, we thought it was the ignition switch, but the guy who is repairing the bike, cannot seem to find out the problem. try shorting the starter motor straight to the battery using a piece of insulated wire or jumper lead. This will confirm/rule out the wiring from the battery to the handle bar and back to the starter. Simple things like fuses. Check out the coil and regualtor. I need a better discription of the problem. When you turn on the key, do the lights come on? When you push the starter button, does the bike crank over? Does the bike have spark? Remove the spark plugs, install one in a plug cap and lay the spark plug against the motor. Push the starter button. Don't get to close to the sparkplug. The spark could ignite the fuel coming out of the spark plug hole. Check each spark plug cap. Get back to me with symptoms. |
