Under 6mth old motorcycle from new, now totaled by someone else. can i request a new bike? |
my new bike totaled under 6 mth old can i request a new bike rather than getting mine repaired. You can, but if the motorcycle can be repaired and returned to roughly the same condition it was in before the accident the insurance company will go that route if it's less expensive to repair than replace. Insurance companies have to return you to the position you were in before the accident, and you can bet they're going to take the route that is the least costly. Remember your motorcycle dropped quite a bit in value the minute you rode it off the lot, so if they total your bike out don't be surprised if they don't give you as much as you paid for it.
