What is the best way to repair fairings? |
Just laid down my bike in some gravel and forget my palms and leg what is the best way to repair scraped and cracked plastic fairings? go to a body shop if its scratched they can toutch it up for like 30 or 40 bucks but if the crack on your fairing big you just need to buy a new one. other wise just use the extra strenght adhesive glue. but about the scratches the same happen to my bike and i went to a guy and he touched it up for 30 bucks. replace or glue or touch up paint ninja rider With fiberglass and epoxy (in a well ventillated area). don't let it happen again. you should think about getting new ones over the winter months. Go to someplace such as Harbour Freight and buy a plastic welder. If I remember right mine cost $25. (You will also need to have an air compressor). With a little practice you can repair cracked and broken fairings rather easily. What I do is plastic weld the underside where it doesn't matter if it isn't absolutely perfect, and then use JB Weld to fill in any flaws on the exposed side. Then after sanding the repaired fairing is ready for new paint. For road rash I either just sand it down and repaint; or if it's deep, put a layer of JB Weld over the road rash and sand it down when it cures...then repaint. 1 |
