Broken Bike? |
I was riding in the woods on my "GIANT Boulder SE" cross over mountianbike and the rear gearshift snaped completly off and bent the rear rim. The back tire wont turn beacuse it is bent so much. Can Someone give me a ballpark price that the repair will cost me? I am trying to decide on weather or not to get a new bike or just get my old one fixed. Thanks in advance for any help. You'll need to have the bike inspected to see if the derailleur hanger is broken. If so, that will need to be replaced. A hanger is less than $10 dolllars The derailleur might be fine if the hanger snapped off, otherwise that will be $30 plus labor. Your rear wheel might be able to be trued instead of replaced. To true it might cost $20-30, to replace will be over $50, maybe as high as $75. Worst case, with a new derailleur, new rear wheel, and labor, probably less than $150, unless the frame is damaged, then you might as well get a new bike. i would say 100.00 that would be 30/40 for rear wheel 30/40 for new rear derallier plus labor cost which varies greatly depending on location rebuild rear wheel w/new spokes = 50 derailleur hanger = 10 new rear derailleur = 50 to 150 depending on level possible whole new rear wheel = 50 to 200 depending on level so, total 150 to 400 bucks Thats going to cost you about 拢120, ono. You need a new rear wheel and derailier. Chances are that your chain is toast as well (This includes labour). You could do it yourself, sourcing the parts etc. But you will need to read up on how to set up your gears. It definitely doesn't sound like you need to replace your bike. You may even be able to make some of the repairs by yourself. you could probably save a lot of money.Get a new wheel and/or tire,a new derailleur , you will probably find you need to replace a couple more things. Ask some more questions about installing and taking off parts. I'll bet Its easier then you think. |
