Cycling help!? |
hello you cyclists, I'm going to repair my bike. Can any of you cyclists tell me about true-ing stands and most importantly (complete) tool sets. Links would be helpful. Anything below 150 and more than 10pieces. thanks the link that Andrew W gave is a good deal. that may be your best way to go. dont buy a truing stand. there is much more to truing than you think. if you mess something up, your wheel may end up falling apart on you. you can do basic truing without it, if you r wheel is that bad, take it to a shop where you can be confident while riding it. truing stands cost about $70 and up for a nice one. a cheap one wont do much other than tell you the wheel is out of true. I bought this tool set from Performance bike ($110). http://www.performancebike.com/shop/prof... I also bought the book, "Zinn and the art of Mountain Bike Maintenance" by Lennard Zinn. He puts out books for other types of bikes. The first chapter outlines the tools necessary for a home shop. The rest of the book is an invaluable tool covering every type of repair + illustrations. The Performance tool kit has every tool I've needed for the repairs I've attempted so far. -Cable Replacement -Front Fork maintenance -Chain replacement -Regrease front & rear hubs. -Spoke tightening. -brake replacement -regrease derailleur wheels Truing stands are something I haven't worked with....yet. I'm getting my repair confidence up so that is the next step. Park Tool makes a great all around truing stand they also make professional quality tools, but they can be expensive |
