How to get into track bicycle racing?

I want to start racing my bike on a track, right now I have a univega sportour conversion to a fixie, would I need a new bike? and where near LA can I find places to practice?

First you need to find a bicycle track. I guess check the yellow pages in LA. Go over and hang out, check it out, see what kind of bikes those guys are using, maybe ask some questions if there are any friendly people hanging around.

I think your bike may be adequate for getting into track cycling. I'm sure they've got beginner level events that you could get involved with. I wouldn't sink a ton of money into a bike until you are more familiar with where best to spend the money, that will come from experience.
