What is the right bike for me? |
i am 14yrs old,but iam only 4ft11inches,85lbs,and iam also ready to start racing so iam thinking a 2 stroke or like a crf150r . the bike i been riding is a ttr125 The CRF150R is actually a 4 stroke, not a 2 stroke. The CR85 is Honda's 2 stroke race bike. The 150 would be much easier for you to adjust to than an 85 2 stroke but they are also about $1000 more. you are about my son's size... he has a yz85 and it fits him great... my son's friend has one of the 150's and is selling it because he got a rm85.... i would not advise a 150r they are really to heavy and the 2strokes are much lighter and would be easier for you to throw around... that is 1 reason that my son's friend likes his 85 better.. I would suggest a YZ85, this is because it has adjustable suspension, so you can make it right your height, any bike will do this but i like that model because i raced it. CR80. I suggest you go to a dealer and sit on a few bikes as you are going to be in difficulty height wise so need to select carefully. At 14 you will be restricted class wise and while in the country I am you are entitled to race a small wheel 85cc bike against the big wheels if you haven't got a big wheels I don't know if the same would apply where you are. If you can manage the crf150r they are a very good bike and one suggestion is to do what we had to do for my son when he first went to an 85cc and was too short. We got an electric knife and carefully cut the seat down then put the cover back over the foam that was left and stapled it back in place. If you do that carefully then you have two pieces of foam left and can replace the piece you have cut out at a later date when you have grown. You may also need starting blocks which even now my 15 year old uses for his larger bike. |
