Triathlon-- Race belt?

My first tri is coming up this weekend, and I bought a race belt. My question is, do I put it on before the bike or before the run?

If by "Race Belt" you mean a belt that holds your race number..
-Put it on in Transition 1 after the swim, place your number at the back for the bike section and in the the front for the run section..

If by "Race Belt" you mean a belt that holds water and other fuel..
-Put it on before the run as you should be able to carry any water and fuel you need for the bike section on your bike..

Very few tri's, Ironman races excluded, require you to wear your race number during the bike portion. So it is generally your option to put your race belt on either in T1 or T2. As a general rule I put my race belt on in T2 choosing not to wear it while on the bike.

Many races will supply a decal for your bike helmet with your number and you will also be marked usually on shoulders and calves with your race number and sometimes age.

Hope this helps. I know you have had others tell you it is required to wear your number during the bike portion but that is just not the case in most tri's.

Generally you need to have your race number on for the run and finish. I put mine on in T2. Attend the pre-race meeting so you know all of the race specific rules and course layout
