What dirtbike should I buy? I'm 6'1, 170 and ready to START racing.?

ive had a crf230f. i think im ready to race. what fairly cheap bike should i get that i can still win a race with?

im also 13 years old. a 450 may be too big

Since you are only just starting I think you would do well to begin on a 250cc four stroke. You may feel a bit all arms and legs on it as you are tall, but as a beginner at racing it would be a good starting point and then when you have the hang of it you could move on.

ok first off a 125 2 stroke equals the power of a 250 4 stroke. A 250 2 stroke equals the power of a 450 4 stroke, and you will have to race with those ppl on those bikes. 2nd there is a differnce between the "trail" 250s and "racing" 250s. Take the 250x vs. 250r hondas for instance. Not nearly the same the 250r blows the x outta the sky. 3rdly the 250x is about double the power of ur 230. U know this b/c I have both right now and got back from riding them about 10 min ago. If u wanna race then get a 250r, kx250, rmZ250 ( u derline Z, makes it a 4 stroke) or a yz250 but make sure u are ready to spend at least $6100 on a bike b/c that is what they cost new

If you have been riding 4 strokes stay with them. 450cc may be to much. try a 250 4 stroke. even though its only like 20cc different than that crf230 of yours, the crf, yzf, rmz, or kxf 250 is going to be so much more powerful and quicker than the 230. Crf 230's are beginner and intermediate bikes. they aren't as powerful. don't get me wrong, they are good bikes, but 250's are the real things to ride.

i think you should get a 125 two stroke because they are a good size and there great
a 250 two stroke might be too much for you
yea if you want a 2-stroke get a 125, honda, yamaha, suzuki. kawasaki. ktm's are too expensive but there awesome.
if you want a 4-stroke look for a yz250f, or a honda cr250r, any of those would be good.
if you want a cheap bike i would look at kx125's or rm125's.
you can find a nice used one for about $1300,
and put some Pro circuit pipes on ot and some vForce reeds and that bike will be a beast. Good Luck

6'1 and was riding a crf230? you must have been cramped! before you start racing, you need to get your bike and practice and get comfortable on it before you get on the starting gate. because your so tall, look at a 250 or 450 fourstroke.(you can also look at 125 and 250 2 strokes). you need to sit on the bikes to see which one feels the best. you can pick up a used crf250 or crf450 for good prices. but dont forget all the other bikes out there! kawasaki,yamaha, suzuki, and ktm. good luck!
