Why disc brakes for bikes are not provided for rear wheels in common?

often disc brakes in bikes are there for both front and rear wheels only in race bikes.

nearly all motorcycles have front and rear disc brakes but normally the rear brake is a smaller single disc as opposed to a larger twin disc set up at the front. This is because the weight of the bike mainly transfers to the front under braking hence the need for powerfull brakes up front....the rear gets lighter so only minimal amount of braking power is needed so as not to lock up the rear wheel.
