Wanting to know if its hard to learn how to drive a motorcycle?

looking into buying a kawasaki ninja bike, but never really rode a motorcycle before just a three wheeler automatic. i've always driven automatic cars and i want to learn how to drive a bike not to race just for alternative transportation. can anyone out there give me some good advice.

Good advice.....GO & DO A M/CYCLE TRAINING COURSE..

they teach/tell you how to ....its a lot different to a car..

& yes you will drop the bike at some stage....so buy cheap to learn on..

plastic fairings look nice but cost cash to fix after even a low speed off........

bikes negative steer at speeds over a few MPH...

learn to use the front brake well.........its 100% of your stoping power....

there great fun & have loads of go..(even small bikes go fast)

learn fast & well ......you can enjoy them for years.. Source(s): 35 years riding & counting............
nail the throttle and dump the clutch
Buy a used bike because you will drop it. Other then that its not hard to learn. Its similar to driving a stick, because you have to change gears.
Buy a 250cc bike first, easy to get your license on it and you will need to learn lots before you ride a ninja.
Other wise, you will be thinning the herd.
First, you RIDE a bike, not drive it.
Second, it's pretty easy. The most difficult thing is that until you get the hang of it, you're a bit shaky when starting and stopping. If the bike u try to learn on is too heavy for you, you may have a hard time handling it. But don't be intimidated. All you do is squeeze the clutch with your left hand and kick it into gear with your foot. Then let go of the clutch while rotating your right hand on the handlebar away from you to accelerate (it's like pushing the heel of your hand away from you). When it starts whining like it's working hard, it is telling you to switch gears. So you stop rotating the gas with the right hand (but hold on still!!), squeeze the clutch in (with left) and pop the gear shift up with your foot again. Then let go of the clutch and rotate the gas with right hand again.
To slow down, use a combination of the hand brake on right side of handlebars and the foot brake.
It's fun, but please, please wear a helmet. I used to work in a head trauma hospital, and almost half the guys in there were bike wrecks. A lot of 20 to 40 year old vegetables. So think safety first and have FUN!!
