does anyone know how much HP a 1981 maico alpha 490 makes and do you think it could win a race against a modern open bike, I seen on the net someone said they won a moto on one.
in stock form this bike probably produces around 50 hp. Someone may have won a moto on one recently but it was most likely in a vintage class. There is no way that bike could even compete with say a new yz125 on a modern course unless it was a wide open course without alot of whoops and doubles or triples. That thing still has shocks on the back, that is one of the last years for the dual shocks I think. I rode an 82 once to see if I wanted to buy it and as long as it ran it was a chore to keep the front end down. Massive power but a bear to handle.
