What Size jets would you run and boysome reeds on a kx85 ? |
The reason i am wanting to know is because i want to put a set of racing reeds in the bike, and correct jets to go with the boysome reeds. The track has long straights, sharp bends, loads of wops and two cracking table tops. first don't buy boyemsen reads they are fiber glass and can frey buy the V-Force Delta reed block, they are carbon fiber and certainly more bang for the buck. you may want to consider buying an exhaust system first though. You won't get as much out of the reeds till you do unless you already have an exhaust. I'm not certain that you will need to change the main jet according to size unless your changing altitude significantly. you may however want to raise you needle jet one position for good mid throttle response. Once you get the Boysen reeds there will be suggested jetting in the paperwork that comes with them. Be warned though, the reeds alone aren't going to gain you a whole lot. You have to think of the whole package when doing engine mods. An engine is basically an air/fuel 'pump'. If you make changes to get more air/fuel in, then you have to make changes to get that increased volume of air/fuel out as well. Otherwise you gain little, if anything, and in some cases you can actually hurt performance. Get your stock bike properly set up. Get the suspension set up for your weight and riding ability. Make sure the jetting is correct on the stock engine. Put some good tires on it. Then go learn how to ride it. Then get in shape so that you can ride it hard for the entire race. In reality it's 70% rider and 30% bike anyway, and most stock bikes that are properly set up are more bike than most of us are riders. Big ones. 1. you have to see what type of expansion chamber you have .2. check the type of air filter. 3. assuming it has 24mm or 26 mm carbs i think if you have all after market parts go with 135 or 140 mains remember you also have primary jet but it is just for idle to 3000 rpm..finally easyway is just try going up 2steps for instance ,,,100 to 110 once you find out what foctory size is,,if you have stock everything go up 2 times per change .especially when you change exhaust |
