Pleaz give me your opinon on this quote..? |
I remember when "getting high" meant swinging at the playground. The worst thing you could get from the opposite sex was cooties. your worst enemies were your siblings. Race issues were about who ran the fastest. War was a card game. Wearing skirts didn't mean you were a s*lut. The only thing you smoked were the tires on your bike. The only thing that hurt was skinned knees and the only that broke were your toys. Life was so simple and care free when we were young, but what i remember the most was...was that i wanted to grow up... We are never satisified with what we have to enjoy. As children, we want to be grown-up and adult. As an adult, yeah we get to drive, and along with it. comes are payments, auto insurance, rent--mortgage, credit card bills and the like, so in retrospect, the childhood days were carefree because we had parents to love nuture and protect us from this big bad world! Source(s): My Life now is another ballgame You only live once, if you live right, Once is enough. I like it baby. Did I write that? because I thought it. It ends something like "now I finally feel like I'm grown up and all I want is to be young again and return to that simpler time in my..."blah, blah blah. RRRRRRRRRaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!... I think the quote is delusional. Even if the term "getting high" wasn't used, people have been addicted to various drugs throughout history, from opium in the east to peyote among the native Americans. For some it's a problem, for some it's part of a path to enlightenment. The "cooties" part of the quote is equally useless. Venereal disease has also been around as long as people have. Horrible STDs have afflicted human beings throughout history. Syphilis is a good example... we can treat it now with antibiotics, but it used to be a horrific disease causing rash, flu, deafness, and insanity. Race issues... again, ridiculous. We've seen slavery and oppression from one race to another throughout history. The rest of the quote reflects what sounds like a 50s childhood... life wasn't really simple and carefree, but there was a great push to believe that it was after the world saw the horrors of WWII. But all the horrors of life went right on, just as they always had. Maybe this person really felt this way... but that just means the person believes that "ignorance is bliss". I disagree. There's plenty about today's society that's good, that's beautiful, that's expressive, that's progressive. And there's plenty that's gone wrong or is going wrong, to be sure. But I'll take the good with the bad and skip the delusions. ;) |
